Xiaomi Redmi 7: Specifications and Features As noted, the Redmi 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset which we saw on the likes of the Honor 8C and Asus Zenfone Max M2. The Snapdragon 632 SoC is a direct successor to the Snapdragon 625 SoC which Xiaomi used on several of its smartphones. As for the cameras, the Redmi 7 features 12MP+2MP camera set up on the rear sides with several camera modes like AI Portrait mode and AI Scene Detection (first on a Redmi series phone. On the front, the Redmi 7 has an 8MP selfie camera with the same AI Portrait mode and Auto HDR feature. On the rear side, there’s a fingerprint scanner and the phone also has Face Unlock feature. As seen with recent Xiaomi smartphones, the Redmi 7 also has an all-new design which Xiaomi is calling it as Aura Design. Having said that, Xiaomi has used a plastic body on the Redmi 7 to save costs. The Redmi 7 comes in three different colour options- Lunar Red and Comet Blue. And there’s the standard Eclipse Black colour variant as well. The Redmi 7 sports a 6.26-inch HD+ display on the front with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Going by the specifications of the display, it seems like the same one present on the slightly higher priced Redmi Y3. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR Blaster and three-card slot. Xiaomi has added a 4000mAh unit on the Redmi 7 and it has a Micro USB port for charging. The Redmi 7 competes with the Realme C2 and the Asus Zenfone Max M2 in India.
