Aforesaid, the latest update is also based on FunTouch OS which is Vivo’s in-house Android skin, but the major change is it’s now built on top of Android 9 Pie. Vivo must’ve added all the major Android 9 Pie features introduced by Google and there will be some more new features from the company to enhance the user experience. Going by the changelog, Vivo states that the update brings New UI Design to the table compared to the older version of FunTouch OS. Additionally, there’s a new and upgraded Shortcut Centre which will perform an in-app action with a single tap. The update may also include other new features of which details are not available at the moment.
Vivo Announces FunTouch OS 9 Update to 13 Smartphones In other news, Vivo has officially announced the Android 9 Pie-based FunTouch OS 9 rollout to 13 smartphones which were released in 2018. Vivo smartphones released in 2019 arrived with Android 9 Pie itself, so it’s time for Vivo to upgrade its older smartphones to the latest iteration of Android. Going by the report of IT Home, Vivo is currently testing FunTouch OS 9 on five of its smartphones- Vivo X21i, Vivo Z1, Vivo Z1i, Vivo X23 and Vivo X23 Symphony Edition, and it will soon start testing the update on Vivo X21 UD, Vivo X21, Vivo NEX A, Vivo NEX S, Vivo Z3i, Vivo X21s and Vivo Nex Dual Display Edition. To recall, the Vivo X21 smartphone was launched as the first phone with an in-display fingerprint scanner in India, so a lot of consumers seems to have brought the phone. Vivo has now confirmed that it will receive Android 9 Pie update by the end of June 2019. This roadmap is for Vivo smartphones released in China, but some of these phones were launched in India as well, so they’ll receive update post the rollout in China. Recently launched Vivo phones like the Vivo V15 Pro and Vivo V15 boot the latest iteration of Android. Vivo is yet to reveal the Android 9 Pie update rollout to Vivo V11.
