After the comments from the telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on the scope of a new player coming to the telecom sector, Indians should actually get more confident about the future of the state-run telecom operator - BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited). The private telcos have been ruling the Indian telecom market for years and BSNL has been struggling all because it doesn’t have PAN-India 4G coverage. Well, this could change pretty fast....

The employee union of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) wants the Indian government to clear the dues that it owes to the company. The employees want the money from the government to ensure that the telco can be put back on track. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) owes about Rs 30,000 crores to BSNL, which includes Rs 13,789 crores under Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for rural telephony. According to a report from The Hindu, the union has been demanding the release of the funds for long now, and after much persuasion, the Telecom Minister coughed up Rs 282 crores....

As we approach towards a new month, BSNL has started implementing changes to the existing plans. The telco has revised two prepaid plans which will be effective from December 1, 2020. Alongside the revision of these prepaid plans, BSNL is also expected to launch new postpaid plans to compete with JioPostpaid Plus plans. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) officially launched its Internet Protocol television (IPTV) service in its Kerala circle on Thursday. The IPTV service has been launched on a trial basis in the select cities of the BSNL Kerala circle such as Ernakulam and Alappuzha. The trial period is said to be between August 27, 2020 to October 31, 2020. BSNL has highlighted that the users registering for the IPTV service before September 10, 2020, will receive an “early bird” offer....

Government-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has silently revised the Rs 1,999 annual prepaid plan. The telco did not change the basic benefits, however, it revised the OTT subscription benefits. For the unaware, BSNL’s Rs 1,999 prepaid plan offers Lokdhun and Eros Now subscriptions for up to one year. Earlier, BSNL offered Lokdhun subscription for one year and Eros Now subscription for 60 days. After the revision, the telco will offer Eros Now subscription for 365 days, whereas the Lokdhun subscription benefit has been reduced to 60 days....
