Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-run telecom operator in India, has asked the government for more spectrum to roll out 5G. BSNL Deployed More than 5,000 4G Towers Last Year In its release, the government led telco noted that it has installed 54,000 towers in the 2018-19 period which is more than what BSNL had deployed in the past three years combined. The telecom operator also noted that it has also deployed 4G towers, and in the same period it was able to install 5,340 4G towers in the country till April 2019....

BSNL FTTH 500GB Plan The 500GB plan by BSNL is the first plan in the long series of Bharat Fibre FTTH plans. This plan offers 500GB data for an entire month at 50 Mbps speed, and then the speed is throttled down to 2 Mbps post the FUP-exhaustion. The monthly rental of this plan is Rs 777. There is also the annual payment option on this plan for Rs 7,770....

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced new international roaming special tariff vouchers (STVs) starting at Rs 895. The state-run telecom operator announced the same via its Chennai Twitter handle. There are three new STVs, and all of them are for users travelling to Bhutan. All three vouchers are in effect starting today, i.e., March 23, 2021, meaning Indians travelling to Bhutan can recharge with these plans. Cable TV Connections Stand at 11.7 Crore As per the data shared by the Information and Broadcasting minister, Prakash Javadekar, who shared the data while answering questions in the Lok Sabha, the ministry has revealed that there are 11.7 crore cable TV subscribers in the country right now. This data is available from the seeding data available for the multi-system operators (MSOs) and local cable operators (LCOs). During the questions, the minister also added that further data would be available once the digitation of the cable TV subscribers is complete in India....

The spread of COVID-19 has disrupted the business of Cable TV operators. Since the government announced the lockdown period to combat the deadly virus, production of new content from pay channels suffered. To ensure that cable operators don’t face financial distress, Maharashtra Cable Operators Foundation (MCOF) have urged the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) members who operate pay channels to provide a discount on pay tariffs for a period of four months starting from April 20 to August 20....

Dish TV on Monday said that the disclosures filed by Yes Bank with the stock exchanges over the 24.19% acquisition in Dish TV contained “incorrect facts.” The second largest Direct-to-Home (DTH) operator in India in a filing with the stock exchanges said that it has not defaulted on any payment obligation to Yes Bank. Crucially, the DTH operator said that “no shares have been pledged by the Promoters of Dish TV or any other entity for the loans availed by Dish TV from Yes Bank....
